A topic that has been on my mind of the past few years is, peak oil. If you understand what the term means, great. For those of you who do not, a quick and dirty explanation is, we are simply running out of oil. The number one reason for the recent war in Iraq, Afghanistan and any country we step foot in, in the future will be to accumulate oil. Our entire economy was built around the finite resource that is oil. It is the exact reason we are seeing a fluctuating economy right now, it will get better and quickly get worse as the years progress, unless we make a change.
If more people come to this realization then change will come quicker. I know there will be many who will call me a conspiracy theorist, a communist, etc. Pass your judgments if you must, they have all been said before, and it won't be the last time I will have heard them either.
Reading interviews and other information scattered around the web (albeit from sometimes not the most credible of sources) I have come to these conclusions. I'm going to throw a name out there though, Michael C. Ruppert. If you haven't heard of the man, read up on him. I'm also going to throw out two movie titles that are a must see. The first being pretty much a straight interview with Mr. Ruppert titled: "Collapse". The second is a movie released Tuesday the twenty-fifth of January, 2011 titled: "Zeitgeist: Moving Forward". The latter being two hours and forty-one minutes long, be prepared to devote some time to it.
Now, since I know I don't have many readers and I know even the ones who do, probably won't spend the time, money or effort to watching these movies. I'm going to put this as blunt as possible. In the next twenty-five years we will most likely see oil dwindle, hyper inflation, the economy crashing several times and a dramatic increase in poverty, if our energy resources aren't changed. Meaning, doing away with money, getting off our reliance of fossil fuels and working as a society to better each other, instead of working to better us individually.
I don't have faith that this change will ever take place with the current generation or even this population. I am simply passing on the word for those who choose to run with it. The word needs to be spread, regardless if anything ever comes to pass from it.

WP7 and the "Tech-bloggers" today.
So to give a bit of back story, I recently purchased a Samsung Focus. My previous phone was an iPhone 3G. I did my research before the switch and was satisfied with the limitations of the WP7 OS for the time being (Microsoft has announced an update to WP7 in the next coming months).I have always been a Windows user on my PC at home and work.
I've been reading blogs, most notably Engadget, Pocketnow, GIZMODO (though I tend to stay away from the last one for their biased articles around iOS and Apple) as well as many others. I've started to notice a trend, which is the constant need to bash Microsoft. I can't tell if it's because of jealousy, loathing, or what. What I do know is that it has recently started to bother me to the point where I feel something has to be said. People read these blogs and take opinions as facts (for all of you out there reading this, this is my blog, it is opinions, I do not proclaim that anything in this post and any future posts will be fact based, unless stated otherwise).
My primary gripe is with posts proclaiming "WP7 is a flop"and "WP7 Failure!". I don't understand where these are coming from. A simple search for WP7 yields numerous links pertaining to its upcoming update.. It's completely naive to believe that the new OS from Microsoft is a failure this early in the game.
The reason they keep saying this seems to be based around the sales figures of phones to retailers and the discount sales that AT&T is having at this time for the WP7 phones. Now let me say this: most of these blogs I tend to gravitate towards have said things in the past that I agree with. They have said smart things that do tend to have some truth to them. But when it comes to WP7 they all seem to have thrown logical thinking out the window and have hurr'd with the best of the durrs.
Let us do some logical thinking here. Could the reason that AT&T is having sales for this new product mean they are trying to keep the customers they have either lost or are in fear of losing? In the past year AT&T has screwed up pretty badly with their changes. Many people aren't happy with them as a provider anymore. Many people followed the rumor (which was revealed to be true) of the iPhone going to Verizon for some time now and have decided when that happens they are going to make the switch. The best way to keep customers is to lock them in for another two years with a four hundred dollar price cut on a new top of the line phone, right?
No, they chalk it up to the "phones just aren't selling", without doing any actual research into said issue. I encourage you to go ask your local retailer how well they are selling. Yes, they are sales people. They are generally inclined to try and sell you things and most will lie to do so. However, all I have been hearing is that they are selling well. People are coming in to hear what these phones can do and are scooping them up.
Furthermore, the general consensus of readers of these blogs seems to be that if they have purchased a WP7 device themselves, they are extremely happy they have made the switch. I can honestly say so am I.
I'm not posting this to tell you the downfalls of one OS or the advantages of another (hint, hint possible future post material there). I'm posting this to call out bloggers on the tactics they are using to get readers. While it's generally working to increase traffic, it is also serving the purpose of pissing people off. As I said earlier, I don't really read Giz anymore because of their biased attitudes towards Apple and their snotty remarks towards the competition. So, in essence, they have actually lost one reader, as I'm sure they have lost others. I hope that not everyone is into having companies they support trashed on day in, day out.
